Dr. Klint Peebles serves as the Young Physician Section Representative for the American Medical Association’s LGBTQ+ Section and is deeply involved in advocacy, including co-chairing the AAD’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion workgroup and serving on multiple LGBTQ health task forces. Dr. Peebles is a frequent speaker at national conferences focusing on sexual- and gender-diverse dermatologic care.

Sarah H. Millan, MD, is a fourth-year and chief dermatology resident at MedStar Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center. She holds a Medical Degree with a scholarly focus in Clinical and Translational Research from George Washington University. Her academic journey began at Vanderbilt University, where she earned a triple major in neuroscience, molecular and cellular biology, and Spanish. Subsequently, she dedicated two years to research at the NIH’s Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology. While her initial passion lay in neuroscience, Dr. Millan’s curiosity swiftly shifted to dermatology during her medical school years. She embarked on a summer research fellowship under the guidance of Dr. Adam J. Friedman, investigating novel therapeutic targets for squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Millan is the founder of Learn2Derm, an initiative committed to providing dermatologic education and resources to underserved and historically marginalized communities. She is also the Co-Founder of Serve Your Skin, a nationwide tennis tournament initiative promoting skin cancer awareness among athletes and raising funds for IMPACT Melanoma’s sunscreen dispensers and education efforts in underserved areas.

Dr. Colleen Cotton is a board-certified pediatric dermatologist and Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is also the Director of Clinical Trials and an attending physician in the Division of Dermatology at Children's National Hospital, where she directs a multidisciplinary clinic for Hidradenitis Suppurativa, integrating dermatology, adolescent medicine, and psychology. She serves on the Board of Directors of both the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) and the HS Foundation, reflecting her dedication to education and research for pediatric skin disease.

Mana Nasseri is a fourth-year medical student at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed a research fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Children's National Hospital, where she developed a strong foundation in pediatric medicine and clinical research. Mana is interested in minority health advocacy, particularly within the field of dermatology, driven by a commitment to improving health equity and outcomes for underserved communities.

Sharmila Sandhu is a seasoned legal professional with a strong background in healthcare and regulatory affairs. She is currently the Director ofHealth Policy & Payment for the American Academy of Dermatology. Prior to this role, she held various leadership positions, including Chief Operating Officer from 2024 to 2025 and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) from 2019 to 2024. Prior to this, she served as Counsel and Director of Regulatory Affairs at AOTA from 2014 to 2019, and as Director of Regulatory Affairs at the American Academy of Audiology from 2011 to 2014. Sharmila holds a JD from American University Washington College of Law and a BS from Cornell University. She is proficient in multiple languages and has a strong foundation in health law, legislative relations, and policy.

Biography: I founded and became involved in DC Dermatology Trainee Advocacy Day to build on my work with patient support groups and underserved communities, where I have seen firsthand how gaps in access, education, and representation impact healthcare. These experiences, combined with my passion for dermatology, have shaped my commitment to advocacy as a way to amplify patient voices and address disparities, particularly for those with stigmatized or underrecognized cutaneous conditions. As a medical student trying to find ways to support my community at large, I hope to create a space where trainees can develop as advocates and help drive more equitable, patient-centered dermatologic care across populations.

These experiences inspired me to get involved in the leadership of DC Dermatology Trainee Advocacy Day, where I have spent the past two years working to create a space for trainees to develop as advocates and help drive more equitable, patient-centered dermatologic care.

Biography: Brianna Watson is passionate about health policy, given her various internships and fellowships on Capitol Hill: Fall 2020 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Intern, 2022 Women's Congressional Policy Institute Fellow in Congresswoman Robin Kelly's office, and 2024–2025 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Fellow in Congresswoman Terri Sewell's office. Brianna's future career goals include working at the intersection of clinical research, medicine, and policy, focusing on improving healthcare access and outcomes.

Bio: I leverage my physician-scientist training, six-figure fundraising for women's and minority-health equity, Capitol Hill advocacy on cosmetic-safety policy, and leadership of an inclusive dermatology startup to mobilize resources for the bold DEI initiatives that move our field forward. In a moment when this work demands more support than ever, I aim to help cultivate a dermatology workforce that mirrors the diverse communities we serve. In recognizing that many conditions look different in skin of color and remain understudied, I champion expanded research and training so every person feels seen, worthy, and expertly cared for - from bench to bedside.
