Jacqueline Leon, Kentucky DTAD Chair
M.D. Candidate, University of Kentucky College of Medicine Bowling Green Campus Class of 2027
Jacqueline Leon is a second-year medical student at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Bowling Green campus. She is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. She attended Texas Christian University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Spanish in 2023. She is excited to serve as this year’s Dermatology Trainee Advocacy Day Chair for Kentucky. She is interested in pursuing a career in Dermatology and exploring different avenues to provide patient-centered care in the future.

Alicia Fields, DNP, FNP-C
University of Kentucky College of Medicine Bowling Green Campus Class of 2026
Alicia Fields is a 4th year medical student at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Prior to medical school, she practiced as both a registered nurse and nurse practitioner and spent over a decade working in a rural health clinic. Her interest in caring for patients in underserved areas comes from lived experience growing up in rural Daviess County, Indiana. Alicia earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Frontier Nursing University in 2018. During medical school, Alicia completed a research fellowship, authored publications, advocated for patients at the Kentucky Capitol, organized the first-ever Kentucky Dermatology Trainee Advocacy Day, and led initiatives on sun protection and skin cancer prevention in the Warren County Public School System. She has guest lectured at Duke University, been a speaker at healthcare conferences throughout the nation, and has presented at numerous research showcases. She is currently serving as president of Daviess Community Hospital’s Foundation Board. Alicia enjoys being a mentor to students pursuing health careers, especially first-generation students and those from rural communities.

Mariam Elgomos, B.S.
M.D. Candidate, University of Kentucky College of Medicine Northern Kentucky Campus
Mariam Elgomos is a first year MD candidate at University of Kentucky Northern Kentucky campus. She graduated Spring of 2024 from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s in health sciences and minor in Spanish. She can speak both Arabic and Spanish. She is so excited to be a part of Dermatology advocacy day as she is passionate about pursuing dermatology and expanding her knowledge in the field.

Kat Howard attended Western Kentucky University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She currently attends the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Bowling Green Campus and will graduate in 2027.

Anthony Marcelletti
University of Kentucky College of Medicine Lexington Campus Class of 2027
Anthony Marcelletti is a second-year medical student at UKCOM, originally from Lake George, NY. He earned a BHS in Clinical Leadership and Management from the University of Kentucky. He is passionate about advancing inclusive and effective skin safety by promoting proper sun care for individuals of all skin tones and backgrounds. His primary focus is on improving access to dermatologic care for rural communities that are disproportionately underserved.

Kathryn Zalla
University of Kentucky College of Medicine Northern Kentucky Campus Class of 2026
Kathryn Zalla was born and raised in Northern Kentucky. She attended Xavier University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She is currently completing her medical education at the University of Kentucky and will graduate in May of 2026. Kathryn is planning to apply for a Dermatology residency and hopes to return to serve Kentucky upon completion of her residency.

Madalyn Bland South

Summary: Hello! My name is Madalyn Bland South, and I am a second year medical student at the University of Kentucky. I attended Miami University, where I obtained a Microbiology and Spanish degree in 2021. After undergrad, I worked as an MA in Dermatology, after being inspired to do so by one of my absolute best friends who was battling Stage IV Melanoma. I am now involved in phenomenal organizations such as Melanoma Know More and the Cincinnati Cancer Advisors. When I'm not studying, I am either spending time with my husband and our dachshund, Bama, or helping brides plan and decorate for their weddings after starting a business a year ago!

Claire Tinkler

Summary: Hi all, my name is Claire Tinkler, and I am a first-year medical student at the University of Louisville. I attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky where I graduated with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minored in Spanish. During my gap year, I worked as an MA and scribe at a dermatology office in Northern Kentucky and loved every minute! At ULSOM, I help teach surgical skills as a suture clinic coordinator, and I volunteer in the Louisville community with Kentucky Refugee Ministries. If I'm not on campus, you can find me trying new local restaurants with friends or running through Cherokee Park.

Drew Lawrence is a second year MD candidate at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Northern Kentucky Campus. He graduated in 2022 with a degree in Health Science from Northern Kentucky University. He has a particular interest in the effects of legislation on the practice of medicine, and he is passionate about expanding Dermatology training opportunities through legislative advocacy.
