ERUM ILYAS, MD, MBE, FAAD
Dr. Erum Ilyas serves as Chair of Dermatology at Drexel University College of Medicine and is an expert in functional textiles and patient advocacy. Holding a patent for UV-protective textiles, she founded AmberNoon, a trendy, sun-protective clothing line available on QVC. A passionate advocate, Dr. Ilyas has successfully lobbied for skin cancer prevention legislation in Pennsylvania. Her innovative research, advocacy with the American Academy of Dermatology, and her work in teledermatology reflect her deep commitment to expanding access to skin health through technology and public engagement.

MEENA SINGH, MD, FAAD
Dr. Meena Singh is a board-certified dermatologist, dermatologic surgeon and leading expert in hair restoration and ethnic skin treatments. She trained at Harvard Medical School, the Mayo Clinic and completed a prestigious fellowship in hair transplantation and Mohs Micrographic Surgery. As Medical Director of the Skin and Hair Center in Kansas City, she specializes in medical and surgical hair loss treatments and co-authored a comprehensive textbook on hair transplantation. Dr. Singh holds national leadership roles and has been featured in The New York Times, on TLC’s Bad Hair Day, and in top dermatology journals. As a leading voice in dermatology across media platforms, she amplifies conversations about hair loss, skin of color, and culturally competent dermatologic care.

Dr. Zelma Chiesa Fuxench, Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, leads research and clinical care in chronic inflammatory skin diseases and is a national advocate for health equity in dermatology. She advances diversity in clinical research, improves access to biologics, and promotes culturally competent care. Through her work with the American Academy of Dermatology and Skin of Color Society, Dr. Chiesa Fuxench is dedicated to patient-centered advocacy and improving outcomes for underserved populations.

TRAVIS BENSON, MD
Dr. Travis Benson is a Penn Dermatology Resident dedicated to advancing dermatologic care and health equity for transgender and gender-diverse communities. His advocacy work includes developing pro bono gender-affirming dermatology clinics, researching barriers to care and the effects of gender-affirming treatments, and publishing on issues such as insurance coverage and access to care. Dr. Benson’s work bridges research and hands-on advocacy, empowering patients and improving access to dermatologic services for underserved populations.

Dr. Jules Lipoff is a Clinical Associate Professor (Adjunct) at Temple University and Medical Director for The Dermatology Specialists in Philadelphia. Known for his writing in national outlets and advocacy for equitable access, Dr. Lipoff’s work spans care delivery, health policy, and the intersection of medicine and journalism. He is the founder of Philadelphia's PRIDE Clinic for patients living with HIV and transgender individuals and serves as a consultant for global health organizations. MATTHEW HELM, MD
Dr. Matthew Helm is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Penn State Hershey and a dedicated clinician, educator, and researcher. He expands access to care through local free clinics and international health initiatives, including services in Ghana. Dr. Helm has authored over 80 peer-reviewed articles and received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, reflecting his commitment to medical education and serving vulnerable populations.

CARRIE KOVARIK, MD
Dr. Carrie Kovarik is a Professor of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania and the founder of Penn Dermatology’s Global Health program, where she leads efforts to expand clinical care and education for underserved populations both locally and internationally.
